Defiance

I really enjoyed this movie and how it was different from most holocaust movies.  The movie really interested me because I thought it was unique how the village of people could all work together as one even during the hardest times to create a "family" and survive.  Survival during this time was obviously really difficult not knowing when your time would come.  I think the major message behind this movie was that in order to come up with a common goal such as survival you need to work as a family and unite to achieve the goal.  I found it very heoric that three brothers could themselves save soo many people. That in itself to save so many people is the underlying message throughout the film.  I thought at first I wouldn't like the movie because of the horifc images that come to mind when I think of the Holocaust but watching this movie I was at the end of my seat waiting for something to happen.  I would get really nervous during the fighting scenes and atattched to the characters making sure they would survive.  Overall, I thought this was really an interesting and eventful movie.

I agree with the statement that their revenge was to live.  These jews that formed a village their only goal in life was to survive.  The survival of all these people made the Germans very angry.  The survival of the people was the best revenge.  The Bielski brothers were not trying to kill everyone but simply stay alive enough for the war to be over.  I think revenge is apart of humanity even though it's not a good thing it's what many people seek when angry or upset. I think revenge is immoral on some levels for not a good reason, but in this case revenge is the only answer.  These innocent people can't just be killed for no reason.  They had a very valid reason to fight back for their freedom.  I think naturally people seek revenge and the two coexist in a way that it's normal to certain levels.  This is an extreme level of revenge that is well deserved.
